dutch1Dutch Portrait 40″ x 40″ oil /aluminum

This image was derived from a 17th century Dutch portrait. The intricate lace collar, a prominent feature of the clothing at that time, becomes a focal point of this work. The lacework is actually scratched through the paint into the gesso ground and layered over in areas with glazes of paint. It took more than a week to complete the collar alone. This work is in a private collection in Dallas.
